Personalized medicine in liver surgery. Together with colleagues from Medical University Vienna we could show that plasma levels of three miRNAs can accurately predict liver dysfunction prior to surgery. This will allow us to stratify patients into risk groups that need preoperative liver volume augmentation or might even be better off with alternative treatment options.
